Doing a session for Brent Bourgeois. I'm studying the "Book of Funk." Brent used to call me "Hank the Chank Bank." February 13, 2014

At my son Charlie and his wife Skyes wedding Sept 1 2012

In my home studio Art House Sound. I'm tired of thinking about it. You think about it.

With Telecaster in Art House Sound, my home studio. Still thinking about it!

Chillin' on the front porch. Obviously thinking about what I'm going to do with all the money I'm going to make playing jazz! Still naive and hopeful!

The Henry Robinett Group at JB's. With Aaron Garner, Rob Lemas and Rick Lotter

Capitol Jazz Project playing the music of Oscar Peterson. Joe Gilman at the piano, Henry, Kerry Kashiwagi on bass and Rick Lotter on drums.

John Scofield and HR Harlows

Jazz Quartet, Henry, Mike McMullen, Alan U'Ren and Shelley Denny playing the Sacramento Library Galleria for the L. Run Hubbard Lifetime Exhibit ribbon cutting ceremony.

Inmate at Folsom Prison, Marty Williams, did this sketch of me teaching in the old hanging room. I taught there for almost 10 years.

American Institute of Music program with Shawn. I was proud and really enjoyed teaching in Vienna at AIM. I made some very good friends and loved the students. I especially enjoyed hanging out with and and jamming with Shawn Lane. He was really a genius. IQ off the charts and a very nice man. His guitar player was just plain ridiculous.

Randy Snook took this for his book Fathers and Sons. I wrote the tune "The Gift" when Charlie was born. That's him on my knee and Landon holding my Stratocaster. When Landon was born I wrote "Welcome" from An Uncommon Prayer.

On Broadway. This Strat is barely recognizable. I updated it over the years.

HRG at On Broadway - April '86

April 1986 The Henry Robinett Group at On Broadway, Sacramento

Sax Attack 1985 McKinley Park, Sacramento. This band played On Broadway for some time. Thursdays I think. I met Joe Gilman in this band when he came to sit in on summer break from IU. Several people passed through this band. Mel Nelson, Dottie Dodgion, Joe Gilman.

HRG Portrait with Kleven. Henry, Erik Kleven, Rick Lotter, Joe Gilman. This version of the band stayed together the longest and recorded the first two CDs, The Henry Robinett Group and Life X 2. This was down the street from the house Joe and I lived in in south Sacramento.

In action at a gig at Lower Lake. That's where I named my song, Lower Lake. The song sounded more idyllic than the actual location! Henry, Erik Kleven, Dave Beuhler, Rick Lotter.

In high school with Sparrow. Don't ask me why there's a microphone in front of me! Here I am in high school playing with the band Sparrow. I'm also playing my first real electric guitar, a 1967 SG Standard. I wish I still had it. That guitar was stolen.

With punk band Labrial Fricative. This was a crazy band. Experimental punk. I was even using a ring modulator to get some nutty sounds. Jimmy Griego is pictured on drums with Maria on vocals. I can't recall her last name! Rick DaPrato was also in the band, playing violin!!! We missed a great opportunity. I soon left for Germany and Dave Lynch replaced me on gutar. They recorded an EP. Sorry I missed that! There's my beloved '67 Gibson SG Standard that was stolen a couple of years later.

Mel, Henry and Darius in Capital Park

With my good friends Mel Nelson and Darius Babazadeh - in Capital Park Sacramento, circa 1982. Taken by radio personality (KFBK?) Ken Hunt.

My first band Sparrow 1972 - From my best calculations I was only five. Left to right - Fred Fernandez - bass; Lawrence Gee - trumpet, leader, arranger; Bruce Cohen (top) -Hammond organ, alto sax; Henry (center) guitar, on the floor Paula Jones lead vocalist, left top Loren Au, drums, left on the floor Lester Chin (saxes).

The Runners logo and poster designed by the remarkable Steven Hosapple.

With The Runners. How wrong can a young man be? I mean look at me! But I'm resisting a bribe. You can see some anonymous man offering me $100, if only I'd play Louie Louie. I'm turning him down, with kindness.

Runners on stage at UC Davis. We're playing at Freeborn Hall at UC Davis, CA. From left to right: Henry, Jimmy Griego back there on drums, Keith Jefferson, Alphonza Kee and Skip Morairty.

Runners on stage. We must be playing “No Jazz.” The chorus “We don’t want no jazz blowing in through that door!” I can guess because Keith pretended to play trombone in a horn section. There’s me, Jimmy Greigo on drums hidden in the back, Keith Jefferson on invisible trombone, Al Kee, Skip Morairty on flute and Bongo Bob on percussion.

Runners C Street North. Keith Jefferson, Jimmy Greigo, Skip Morairty, Alphonza Kee, Bongo Bob amd Henry.

Runners circa 1977 back stage C Street North. Jimmy Griego, Henry, Al Kee, Keith Jefferson, Bongo Bob and Skip Morairty. I was getting ready to go to NYC to be with Charles Mingus.

At Monterey Jazz Festival. Me on my seafoam green Stratocaster at the Monterey Jazz Festival, a gift from Fender. This is me with The Henry Robinett Group. That's Nelson Braxton in the back on bass and behind me is Alan U'Ren on drums. Not seen is Jeff Chimenti on keyboards, Alex Murzyn sax and Sam "Mombo" Hernandez on percussion. Thanks Nick Kantar for getting us this gig!

This is The Capital Jazz Project with Joe Gilman. He's no longer in the band but we haven't done new pictures yet! Left to right it's Joe, Rick Lotter, Henry, Kerry Kashiwagi and Mike McMullen.

My promo shot. No one likes it because it's not in color.

Capitol Jazz Project did a wonderful gig with jazz great Bobby Hutcherson a couple of years ago. Mike McMullen, Bobby Hutcherson, Rick Lotter, Kerry Kashiwagi and Henry Robinett.

I used to publish and mail a newsletter. Not a bad idea . . . my good and childhood friend Frank Jackson shot this one. He's a brilliant photographer by the way.

Test shot. I just happened to have found it. It's here for no other reason . . .

Back cover of my 1st album The Henry Robinett Group. I was there with Roger Voudouris. Photographed by the amazing Penina Meisels

LOL, I know it's not appropriate to have my baby picture here. But you know I was thinking, "Maybe I shouldn't play the piano this time. How about alto sax? I don't want to copy Bird, but . . . What about a guitar? No, no way! That's a hillbilly instrument, isn't it? OMG, what if I ended up playing GUITAR??!"

Vibin' with the scene on my ES-355 at JB's Lounge in Sacramento and spectacular receding hairline.
